Robotics
From the youngest kid on my sister's FLL team to Worlds with VEX — and I'm not done yet.
My robotics journey began in 2020, when I was nine years old. At first, I was mainly involved as a new addition to my sister's FLL (First Lego League) team. I felt awkward being three years younger than the rest of the team and not being able to be as involved. I would work alongside my dad, who was one of the coaches for the team. After the FLL season ended for that year, my sister joined VEX Robotics.
The summer after fifth grade, I volunteered at a Google Workshop for VEX. In sixth grade, I did an ICC program that randomly assigned VEX teams, and finished the Spin-Up season with that team. In seventh and eighth grade, I chose a team from my friends at school with whom I felt I would work better and have more fun with. In seventh grade, we won an award and made it to Worlds.
At the start of my freshman year in high school, I was invited to join a different team. I took that offer, and met three skilled and hardworking teammates — one of whom I became very close with — who I continued the season with. I plan to continue VEX with this team for the rest of high school.
